Anthurium Queremalense, commonly known as the Queremalense anthurium, is a stunning tropical plant that belongs to the Araceae family. Native to the rainforests of Colombia, it is highly sought after for its large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves and vibrant spathes. This plant can be a wonderful addition to any indoor plant collection, as well as a beautiful centerpiece in a garden or patio.

Description:
Anthurium Queremalense is a perennial evergreen plant that typically grows to a height of about 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) with a spread of 1-2 feet (30-60 cm). Its leaves are deep green, leathery, and can measure up to 12 inches (30 cm) in length. The leaf veins are prominently displayed, giving the foliage a unique and attractive appearance. The flowers of Anthurium Queremalense are its most captivating feature. The spathe, a modified leaf that surrounds the spadix (flower spike), varies in color from bright red to pink or orange, creating a stunning contrast against the dark green foliage.

Care Guide:

1. Lighting: Anthurium Queremalense thrives in bright, indirect light. Place it near a window where it can receive filtered sunlight for a few hours each day. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

2. Temperature: This plant prefers warm and humid conditions. Maintain the temperature between 60-85¬?F (15-29¬?C). Protect it from drafts and cold temperatures, as they can cause damage to the leaves and affect overall growth.

3. Humidity: Anthurium Queremalense requires high humidity levels to flourish. Mist the leaves regularly or place the plant on a tray filled with pebbles and water to increase humidity around it. Alternatively, use a humidifier to create a suitable environment.

4. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the top inch (2.5 cm) of the soil feels dry. Anthuriums are susceptible to root rot, so it's essential not to let the plant sit in standing water. Ensure proper drainage by using a well-draining potting mix.

5. Fertilizer: Feed Anthurium Queremalense every two to four weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Dilute the fertilizer to half the recommended strength to prevent over-fertilization, which can lead to leaf burn.

6. Potting and Repotting: Use a well-draining potting mix that retains moisture but doesn't become waterlogged. Repot the plant every 1-2 years, preferably during spring, into a slightly larger pot to accommodate its root growth. Take care not to damage the roots during repotting.

7. Pruning: Remove any yellow or dead leaves promptly to maintain the plant's overall health and appearance. Trim back leggy stems to encourage bushier growth. Use clean, sharp pruning shears to prevent the spread of diseases.

8. Pest Control: Anthurium Queremalense is generally resistant to pests. However, it can occasionally be affected by common houseplant pests like aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Regularly inspect the plant for any signs of infestation and treat with an appropriate organic or chemical insecticide if necessary.

9. Propagation: The most reliable way to propagate Anthurium Queremalense is through division. When repotting, carefully separate the offsets or rhizomes from the main plant and pot them individually. Ensure each division has roots attached. Alternatively, this plant can be propagated by collecting and planting its seeds.

Anthurium Queremalense is a relatively low-maintenance plant as long as its basic requirements are met. With proper care, it will reward you with its vibrant foliage and stunning flowers, making it an eye-catching addition to your indoor or outdoor garden.
